Damon is a clinical psychologist who is passionate about assisting people suffering psychological distress to make positive changes in their lives. He has experience in providing evidence based therapy with child, adolescent, and adult populations. Damon has gained extensive experience practicing in psychology clinics, and has also worked in the hospital setting, being a psychology consult for the Medical and Surgical section of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
Damon has experience in helping clients suffering from Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Parenting and behavioural difficulties, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Schizophrenia, Chronic Pain, Sexual Dysfunctions, and Personality Disorders. He has a particular interest in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and is also very interested in working with couples utilising Emotion-Focused Therapy.
Damon primarily works within a Cognitive-Behavioural framework, borrowing techniques from other frameworks, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Emotional-Focused Therapy, to adapt therapy to each client's individual needs. Damon believes his therapeutic approach should be as individual as his clients.
Damon has been involved in phone-based couples research while completing his doctorate training, and conducted research on the contemporary family structure for his thesis. He also has conducted group therapy with social phobia sufferers and groups for parents who have children with social skills deficits. Damon completed his Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons) at the University of Queensland.
